Unveiling the potential of vaccination registries in Europe
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, health crisis management, disease control, and prevention have become more crucial than ever. The European Health Management Association has emphasised the need for a smooth transition in the European vaccine ecosystems, including data registries and other digital innovations, in their last white paper. Additionally, OpenSky has published a mapping on where the different European registries stand when it comes to vaccination data systems, taking into account areas such as interoperability and technical architecture.
To address these concerns, a focus session has been organised to bring together stakeholders from various levels of healthcare management and subject-matter experts. The discussion will focus on sharing the main recommendations for better use and deployment of vaccination registries, as well as best practices from various countries on how to implement them. The ultimate goal of the session is to answer the question: what can Europe do to unveil the true potential of vaccination registries and data systems?
MSD has been collaborating with central and eastern European countries to improve their vaccination registry data systems, drawing from the experiences of COVID-19 dashboards. This session will build on these efforts by providing a platform for stakeholders to share insights and develop a roadmap for a more coordinated and effective approach to vaccination data systems.
This focus session will feature a video contribution from MEP Tomislav Sokol, Member of the European Parliament; Dr Tudor Pitulac, Manager – Research Projects Division at OpenSky Data Systems; Ms Nicoletta Luppi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at MSD Italia; Ms Daniela Quaggia, Senior Project Manager at Active Citizenship Network (Cittadinanza Attiva). Prof Walter Ricciardi, Professor at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and President Cancer Mission Board at the European Commission, will facilitate the discussion.
