As we reflect on the past three years of the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognise the challenges and vulnerabilities it has exposed in our health systems. Healthcare professionals have been pushed to their breaking point as they work tirelessly to manage the unprecedented challenges posed by the digital revolution, climate change, and other threats to the resilience and sustainability of our healthcare systems.

To address the changing needs of the population and environment, we need strategic thinking and sustainable solutions to guide the transformation of health systems. EHMA 2023 will offer access to high-calibre research, tools, and evidence to learn from and engage with prominent experts in the field from academia, practice, and policy-making in Europe and beyond.

In the opening ceremony, our speakers will explore innovative solutions to some of the most complex challenges in managing and leading healthcare systems and services to catalyse progress toward a more sustainable future for healthcare.

The opening ceremony will feature Prof Sandra Buttigieg, President of the European Health Management Association; Prof Antonio Gasbarrini, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore; Prof Antonella Occhino, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore; Prof Orazio Schillaci, Minister of Health at the Italian Ministry of Health. Prof Americo Cicchetti, Director of ALTEMS – Graduate School of Health Economics and Management at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, will facilitate the discussion.
