Policy decisions made at the local, regional, national, and European level have an important impact on health systems, care delivery, and practitioners. A comprehensive understanding of the policy landscape and mechanisms can facilitate the adoption of innovative solutions to improve health outcomes. This requires a focus on the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of policies and regulations that affect the practice of health management at all levels.

This year we received 6 research abstracts submitted under the track Policy and regulations’. EHMA 2023 will feature one dedicated oral abstract session where presenters will explore updates and the latest developments from around Europe in health policy.

On the second day of the conference, the abstract session on ‘Health systems’ policies and regulations’ will highlight changes in healthcare policy and their correlation with elderly care. It will also define medical deserts and discuss vaccine and policy restrictions. The implementation of digital technologies in mental health systems, lung cancer screening programmes, and gender inequality in caregiving are also among the topics that will be covered.

This session will deliver valuable insights into policy developments which will have a major impact on European health systems and health management practices. A continuous dialogue and exchange of information between health professionals and decision-makers will ultimately pave the way to better health for European citizens.
